The short answer: the best Artisan AI alternative depends on what sent you looking. If it is the annual, quote-only contract, Sdrs ($49 a month, billed monthly) and AiSDR ($1.50 per person prospected on pay as you go, charged daily with no monthly fee) are autonomous AI SDRs with published pricing. If you want a managed, high-volume agent like Ava with a customer success team behind it, 11x is the closest match, at a similar price band. If you would rather control every message yourself, Salesforge's Agent Frank and Reply.io's Jason AI sit in the middle, and a data plus sequencer stack (Apollo, lemlist, Clay) is the cheapest way to keep humans in the loop.
Artisan is a serious product. Ava finds leads in a 250 million contact database, writes and sends email in your reps' names, handles replies and books meetings, and every plan comes with a CSM in a shared Slack channel. What it does not come with is a price you can read before a sales call: as of September 2026 the Artisan pricing page lists Team (about 2,500 leads contacted a month), Scale (about 6,000) and Enterprise, all marked "pricing scoped on your plan". That is fine for a funded sales org. It is why founders, agencies and small teams end up searching for Artisan alternatives. This comparison uses only what each vendor publishes, flags estimates as estimates, and is honest about where Artisan still wins.
Artisan alternatives compared
| Tool (AI agent) | Starting price | Billing | Channels | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Artisan (Ava) | Quote only on the pricing page; comparison pages advertise from $250/mo; Vendr reports a median contract of about $30,000 a year (roughly $2,500/mo), with deals from about $18,000 to $80,000 | Set in the quote; comparison pages say monthly, cancel anytime | Email in your reps' names, social, dialer add-on per seat, Salesforce and HubSpot sync | Funded teams that want a managed agent with a CSM and a strategist |
| Sdrs | $49/mo | Monthly or annual | Email on every plan, LinkedIn and X on Plus, AI voice calls on Pro; HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive sync on Plus | Founders, agencies and small teams that want to test on a monthly plan |
| AiSDR | $1.50 per person prospected on pay as you go | Charged daily, no monthly fee; Team plans on quarterly contracts | Email and LinkedIn, HubSpot sync | Teams that want published pricing per person prospected |
| 11x (Alice) | $3,750/mo | Annual only | Email with managed mailboxes, CRM sync | Teams that want the same managed, high-volume model as Artisan from a different vendor |
| Salesforge (Agent Frank) | $499/mo | Quarterly or annual | Email, with the Salesforge sequencer underneath | Teams that already run Salesforge and want an agent on top |
| Reply.io (Jason AI) | About $500/mo | Monthly or annual | Email, LinkedIn, calls through Reply | Teams that want an agent inside a mature multichannel sequencer |
| Apollo, lemlist, Clay (DIY stack) | $49 to $167/mo per tool | Monthly or annual | Whatever you assemble | Teams with a sales ops person who wants full control of copy and data |
Prices as shown on each vendor's public pricing page on September 15, 2026, except Artisan, which publishes no dollar amount; the Artisan figure is the median contract reported by Vendr, and third-party estimates (MarketBetter, Landbase) put typical volumes at $2,000 to $5,000 a month. Older $250 "Intern" and $600 "Employee" tiers still quoted on some review sites no longer appear on Artisan's pricing page. Treat all of these as ranges, not quotes. Sdrs plans are on our pricing page.
Why teams look for an Artisan AI alternative
Four reasons come up again and again, and none of them is "Ava does not work".
You cannot see the price. Every Artisan plan is scoped on a call. For a two-person founding team that wants to run 200 emails a day for a month and see what happens, the demo is a bigger commitment than the software.
The contract term is unclear until the quote. Artisan plans are sized to your lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats. Its comparison pages advertise "plans from $250/mo, monthly, cancel anytime", yet Vendr's reported range for Artisan deals is roughly $18,000 to $80,000 a year, which points to larger scoped contracts once volume is added. Ask whether your quote keeps monthly cancellation; our Artisan AI pricing guide lists the questions.
The plan is sized on a call. Artisan's own FAQ says plans are sized to your lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats, and the AI dialer is a per-seat add-on. That is common among enterprise AI SDRs, but it means you cannot estimate the invoice from the website, and adding reps or mailboxes later means another conversation. Teams that want a fully managed service instead of software often end up comparing Artisan with outsourced SDR companies, which quote the same way.
You want to own the process. Ava sends in your reps' names and you can approve before sending, lock tone and set banned phrases. Some teams still want to write the sequence themselves, pick the list by hand, and watch deliverability per mailbox. That is a different product category, and it is worth being honest that Artisan was never trying to be it.
When Artisan is still the better choice
Pick Artisan, or stay on it, if you sell a five or six figure deal, run a team of reps who need meetings put on their calendars in their own names, and want a vendor that takes responsibility for the rollout. The shared Slack channel, the CSM from day one, the forward-deployed strategist on Enterprise plans and the SOC 2 Type II certification are real, and a $49 tool does not include any of them. Artisan also bundles a 250 million contact database with enrichment and intent signals into every plan, so a team that would otherwise pay for ZoomInfo plus a sequencer plus an agent may find the all-in price reasonable once it is quoted. If you are moving 6,000 leads a month and have the budget, the alternatives below mostly trade support for price.
Which Artisan alternative is cheapest?
Sdrs is the cheapest autonomous Artisan alternative with a published price, at $49 a month for 500 leads a day, 7-step email sequences with A/B testing, an AI prospect researcher, email warm-up and up to 3 team members. AiSDR charges $1.50 per person prospected on pay as you go, charged daily with no monthly fee. Among the DIY options, Apollo starts at $49 per user a month and lemlist at $55 per user a month, but neither writes and runs the campaign for you; you are buying data and a sequencer, and the SDR work stays with a human.
Is there an Artisan alternative without an annual contract?
Yes. Sdrs and Reply.io sell month-to-month plans, while AiSDR offers pay as you go, charged daily with no monthly fee. 11x is annual, Salesforge's Agent Frank is billed quarterly at minimum, and Artisan now advertises a monthly entry plan from $250 on its comparison pages, though larger scoped deals are reported at five figures a year. If the deciding factor is a published monthly price you can buy without a sales call, Sdrs is the only one of the three that also includes LinkedIn and X outreach and an AI voice agent on its own plans rather than as a separate product.
The Artisan alternatives, one by one
Sdrs
Sdrs is an AI SDR built for teams that want to start small and prove the channel before committing. Starter is $49 a month: 500 verified leads a day from the built-in B2B database, AI-written sequences up to 7 steps, A/B testing, an AI researcher that reads company news, tech stack and funding before writing, and deliverability monitoring. Plus at $149 adds LinkedIn and X in the same sequence, 2,000 leads a day with phone numbers, auto-detected positive replies with calendar links, and two-way sync with HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive. Pro at $499 is full autopilot: unlimited leads with direct dials, an AI voice agent, intent signals and multi-client workspaces, which is how agencies run several clients from one account. There is no setup fee and no minimum term. Where Artisan wins: a human CSM, a strategist, SOC 2 documentation on every plan, and a bigger contact database. Where Sdrs wins: price, monthly billing, and three channels plus voice without a separate seat. You can launch a campaign without a demo.
AiSDR
AiSDR is the closest thing to Artisan with a public price list. It charges $1.50 per person prospected on pay as you go, charged daily with no monthly fee. Team plans cover 1,000+ contacts a month with up to 40% lower price per contact on quarterly contracts. It runs email and LinkedIn, syncs with HubSpot, and lets you approve messages before they go out. Pick AiSDR if you want a published price per person prospected and do not need voice or X. See the AiSDR vs Artisan pricing comparison for the billing differences.
11x
11x's Alice is the like-for-like Artisan alternative: a managed, high-volume agent sold on annual terms, at $3,750 a month on the published Growth plan. The trade is that you know the number before the call. Managed Gmail mailboxes and CRM sync are included. If you are choosing between Artisan and 11x, you are choosing between two similar products, and the deciding factors are the quote, the CSM relationship and which database covers your ICP better. We compared the two in more detail in our 11x alternative guide.
Salesforge Agent Frank
Agent Frank is Salesforge's autonomous agent, priced at $499 a month on annual billing. It lives inside the Salesforge sequencer, so teams already sending from Salesforge get an agent without changing infrastructure. It is email-first. Choose it if you are on Salesforge already; choose something else if you are starting from zero, because you will end up learning the sequencer and the agent at the same time.
Reply.io Jason AI
Jason AI is the agent layer on Reply.io, one of the older multichannel sequencers, at $500 a month on annual billing or $800 monthly (see our Reply.io pricing breakdown). It gets email, LinkedIn and calling from the platform underneath, plus a mature deliverability toolkit. It is a good fit for a team that wants an agent but expects to open the hood often. The published price is close to Sdrs Pro, so compare the two on whether you value Reply's sequencer depth or Sdrs's voice agent and multi-client workspaces more.
A data plus sequencer stack
Apollo (from $49 per user a month), lemlist ($55 per user a month) and Clay (roundups quote its paid plans at $149 to $167 a month depending on billing) are not AI SDRs. They are the parts an AI SDR automates: a contact database, a sequencer and an enrichment layer. Pair them with a dedicated cold email tool that researches each prospect before writing and you have a modular stack that costs $150 to $400 a month and gives a human full control of the copy. The cost is that a human has to run it every day. This is the right Artisan alternative for a team with a sales ops person who enjoys the tooling; it is the wrong one for a founder who wanted the SDR work to disappear.
How to switch from Artisan without losing pipeline
Switching AI SDRs mid-quarter is where most of the damage happens, so do it in this order.
- Export everything first. Pull your contacted leads, replies and booked meetings from Artisan into your CRM before the term ends. Salesforce and HubSpot sync should already have most of it; check that reply threads made it across, not just contact records.
- Keep your sending domains, retire the mailboxes. If Artisan provisioned mailboxes for you, they go away with the contract. Your own domains do not. Point the new tool at the same domains and warm the new mailboxes for two weeks before sending volume; Sdrs includes warm-up on every plan.
- Suppress everyone Ava already contacted. Load the exported list into the new tool's do-not-contact list so a prospect who said no in June does not get a "quick question" in July from the same domain.
- Rebuild the best sequence, not all of them. Take the one Artisan campaign with the highest positive reply rate, paste its positioning into the new tool, and let the AI rewrite it for the new ICP filters. Run it for two weeks on the new platform before you turn off the old one.
- Measure booked meetings per dollar, not replies. Compare the two platforms on the only number that matters over the same 30 days. If the cheaper tool books the same meetings, the annual contract was the only thing you were paying extra for. Our AI appointment setter page shows how that meeting count is tracked in Sdrs.
Frequently asked questions about Artisan alternatives
How much does Artisan AI cost?
Artisan does not publish a dollar price. Its pricing page lists Team, Scale and Enterprise plans, sized by lead volume, mailboxes and dialer seats, and every one is quoted on a sales call. Vendr reports a median contract of about $30,000 a year, with deals from roughly $18,000 to $80,000 paid annually in advance, and third-party estimates put typical volumes at $2,000 to $5,000 a month. Sending mailboxes and phone numbers are sized into the plan on top of that.
Is Artisan worth it?
For a funded team that wants a managed agent, a CSM in Slack and a large bundled database, yes, provided the quote fits. For a founder, agency or small sales team that wants to test outbound for a month before committing a year, an Artisan alternative with monthly billing such as Sdrs or pay as you go such as AiSDR is the better first step.
What is the difference between Artisan and 11x?
They are the two most similar products in the category: both are managed, high-volume AI SDRs, and most reported deals for both run on yearly budgets. 11x publishes its Growth price ($3,750 a month); Artisan quotes. Artisan bundles a 250 million contact database and a dialer add-on; 11x is email-first with managed Gmail mailboxes. Choose on the quote and on which database covers your target accounts.
Can an agency use an Artisan alternative for several clients?
Yes. Sdrs Pro includes multi-brand and multi-client workspaces from one account, so an agency can run separate campaigns, sending domains and calendars per client at $499 a month total. That is the main reason agencies pick it over per-seat or per-client enterprise quotes.
What is the best Artisan alternative for a small business?
Sdrs, because it is the only autonomous AI SDR at $49 a month with no contract, and it grows into LinkedIn, X and voice on the same account. If you outgrow Starter, Plus at $149 is still a fraction of an enterprise quote. Our AI SDR pricing comparison puts every vendor's entry plan side by side.
